So, Joey and I just got back from the Oncology clinic and his labs - TopicsExpress

So, Joey and I just got back from the Oncology clinic and his labs showed that his white count is very low so he cant go to school. He has another appointment next week Wednesday to check his white count again. This was an emotional but, hopefully, productive appointment. Joeys social worker took me out of the room to talk to me and ask me questions. I told her about how things have been and was trying so hard to keep it together. Talking about our problems is not easy, especially with feeling emotional lately lol. We went back to the room where Dr Irwin was with Joey. The social worker and Dr Irwin were asking Joey how things have been for him. When Joey started telling them about school and how hard it is for him, he started crying. I was already feeling emotional so, it was extremely hard for me to fight my tears seeing him like that. Joey is a very sensitive and loving person so, when he feels hes getting treated like hes different at school, it hurts him deeply. Joey is very behind in school work and in what the kids his age are learning. He also has an IEP to help with some learning difficulties he has, especially in reading. He feels dumb he says. I also mentioned in yesterdays post other issues hes having. Everyone at the clinic was very supportive for Joey and they said they are going to do what they can to help him. As his mom I do the best I can to make him feel normal. I cant help what others say to him or how they treat him but, I can try to help him cope with it all. No matter what its going to be hard but, thats what makes us stronger. Im hoping things can get worked out and that he starts to feel a lot more comfortable very soon.
