So fans, yesterday brought out the best and worst of people- this is what we deal with in Rescue: someone who had given us their rats because they couldnt afford medical care for them contacted us several weeks ago about also taking in a parakeet because they couldnt afford medical care for it as well proceeds to ask us now to take in a ferret they JUST GOT that needs medical care- having had enough we told them that they should not get more animals until they can afford to take care of them- now they are ranting that we are a horrible rescue that doesnt care & are rood - and how dare we judge them. Well, since animal cruelty is a felony in all states, and depriving a companion animal of medical care is cruelty I reminded them that I should report them and havent yet hoping they would stop getting animals they cant care for and expecting a donation funded non profit to clean up their messes. Dont know if they will bring the ferret or not - i do hope so & wish i would have waited till animal was in hand to go off, but it was all i could take. I did give them other places that may take it- hopefully they will. Or maybe heaven forbid they will take it to the vet themselves. Ok so to keep us from completely losing hope in humanity earlier in the day we took part in a marketing survey exercise in a virtual meeting and the instructor was so moved by what we do he personally made a donation. How cool is that! Thank goodness for him!
