So great to see Molly immortalised in print as a hero! Not all - TopicsExpress

So great to see Molly immortalised in print as a hero! Not all the details are 100% right, a little bit of a misquote and exaggeration. So just to clarify some finer points: * Blood tests can confirm if a pet is having internal affects from snake venom. It wont tell us where or how many times a pet has been bitten. This test thus indicates if a pet has likely been injected with snake venom or not. * Pets often die before making it to a vet for treatment because owners are unaware their pet has been bitten until symptoms start to appear. Approximately only 60% of bite wounds can be found. If your pet has been seen playing with a snake or if your pet shows any signs of illness that could be snake bit related, its best to get them checked ASAP. * Cost & success of treatment of snake envenomation varies according to the snake type, size of pet, number of strikes and how soon a vet can start treatment. We have no way of foreseeing the amount of antivenene each patient could need until treatment is started and the patients response is measured. Each patient is an individual and needs tailored care. Give us a call if you have any questions. We are happy to discuss.
