So, here I am, at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) for my 4th Herceptin session. The service is way beyond from what I expected to get from the government hospitals. They are offering the best of everything, with the cheapest price, ever. (First timer - RM90, next session/ each RM50). Thumbs up to the Oncology dept for that. The Procedure:- 1) Register and set up the appointment. 2) On the day of the treatment, make sure to arrive as early as 7:30 a.m. if you dont want to be on queue. 3) Waiting time for blood test, checking blood pressure and weighing - 10 minutes 4) Waiting time for blood test result - 1-2 hours ( I was busy chitchatting with other patients, reading Mastika, had a short nap that I didnt realize the time flies - bring the essentials; reading materials, movies / music downloaded to your phones, a sweater) 5) File review by doctor (Dr. Yong- young, pretty & soft spoken) 6) Billing- took approx 15 minutes walk (sebab sesat & jakun) to hand over the blue slip. Those who works with the govt, make sure to bring the GL, or use HRMIS. Others- make your payment there). Its good to have a walk before the treatment, feels better and will experience less side fx) 7) Day care - those with a chemo port have to purchase the Huber needle for RM10 each, get it attached and enjoy your treatment. 8) Complimentary F & B :D - biscuits and Milo 9) The treatment finished at +-3:00 p.m. Pix (clockwise):- 1) The hallway 2) Waiting area 3) The daycare - with comfortable recliners and a blanket each. Chemo nurse, Kak Ziah in action 4) Till we meet again :D
