So heres something I find curious...1977 a Senate Committee suggests less meat in the American diet to reduce heart disease.....senators in meat producing states get voted out. 1998, Howard Lyman explains to Oprah, the toxicity of meat in both raising and processing..Oprah swears of burgers and the meat industry enters a lawsuit, ultimately losing and costing both parties millions (they lost)...now 2014...a NYT writer points out the tremendous pressures the cattle raising and processing industry is putting on scarce fresh water supplies (ie: 145,000 gallons per ton...veggies are about 4200 gallons per ton). Add to this is known carbon footprint of methane from cattle? Wow..... Upton Sinclair would even be amazed at how out of hand this has gotten!! But, it appears McDonalds is having a hard time increasing its profits.....BOO HOO!! Water, however, will be the BIG issue going forward.
