So... it has come to my attention that many do not know the purpose of The Ruby Snider food pantry. The Ruby Snider Food Pantry was set up 10 yrs ago to serve the poor in the community... not just the monetarily poor, but the spiritually poor. The center has food, clothing, and household items. A person comes to the center and can purchase (as often as they like) any of the (VERY REASONABLY PRICED) clothing or household items. If a person intends to apply for food and clothing assistance, then they meet with one of our counselors who talks to them about where they are in their spiritual life and where they are in there physical (monetary) life. A person can qualify for pre-packed food bags and a clothing stipend every 120 days. The pre-packed bags are filled with a variety of items, depending on what donations we have at that time. Generally, they have (1) meat item, one small ziplock bag of flour, one small ziplock bag of sugar, one small ziplock bag of rice, a pkg of pasta, a box of mac & cheese, 4-5 canned vegetables, 1 can of fruit, 1 box of cereal, one can of tuna, one jar of peanut butter, one can of spaghetti sauce, 2 rolls of toilet paper, one bar of soap ~ of course, all these items are subject to donations.... so, we may or may NOT have them all ~ we also try to give a clean, used, age appropriate toy as a special gift to families with children. We are open EVERY Tuesday from 9:00 - 2:00 (volunteers arrive around 8:00). We really, REALLY need more donation drives.... and that happens when people (like you) get involved and bring our story to your place of business... a box in an employee break room that accepts donations, or even a corporate match for monetary donations... every little bit helps! Sorry for the long explanation... but as you can tell, it is a passion of mine! =)
