So, just had a way too close encounter with a rut sick 6 X 6 elk. Came around a curve and he was coming up. By the time I stopped and he finally stopped, about 29 yards separated us. Not another single car around. Steep hill to the left and drop off to the rught. Backwards is uphill. He has a locked stare into my eyes. Finally cars come from behind. Try blowing horn. Seems to tick him off. Now cars come from other side... push him closer to us. Fire up the pipes...nothing. yell at him. ..nothing. talk softly... nothing. Finally a ranger comes up. She pushes him closer. With hand motion, I get her on correct side of bull. She cant see his girlfriend down the bank. He still wont get off road so I fire up and race by at about 6 feet. People in cars are giving me pictures and videos so they will follow as I can . Cris Zambs-Garharttis still shaking, but we are safe.
