So, just to set the stage, we live in a bungalow like bunch of apartments that are interconnected, but are accessed by one gated door. In addition to this, we have a private patio area, but through little side paths, you can get into the main area. So, if Indiana gets out because our roommate leave the door open too long, its not like she can get to the street, but she can make it... Fun catching her. So, last night around 1:00pm, she slipped out as my roommate left the door open a second too long and ran up a side path, and I head after her. I get about 1/2 way up the path completely focused on her, and shes at a dead stop, then starts slowly backing up. So I go to a crouch to get her. All of a sudden, she bolts in reverse, heading straight through my legs back to the apartment. I look up from where I focused on her, and theres a skunk, just charging towards me, tail lifted, and PISSED OFF and 4 feet away. I yell, and immediately turn around, and am 6 steps behind Indie, racing towards the house. Just ahead of a scent bomb. She races in the door. I race in a second later and slam the door. And I swear to God there was a second where we just looked at each other in palpable relief. Hope the story translates! I still laugh thinking about it.
