So now that Ive added a few more hard drives to my media server Im getting a bit of a heating problem, and its just too cramped in the Oscilloscope Case project to do much about it. Plus its got a mATX 400 watt power supply that is now woefully overloaded and will probably pull a Star Trek Enterprise Bridge Relay Explosion move any moment now. Ive decided to start a new project computer case. I have this medium sized piece of 60s (I think?) electronic test equipment - a Capacitance Limit Bridge. Damned if I know what the hell that even is, other that something for testing the capacitance of.....stuff? Anyway, here are the before pics. For those that are new to this, the concept is - I gut this thing out, tear apart an old standard PC computer case, mount the chassis/framework inside this thing, and then wire up all the switches, lights, analog gauges and dials, and knobs to various functions - power, reset, volume, an ammeter to measure power consumption, rig one of the analog gauges to be a thermometer for the CPU, and another to flicker like crazy when you access the hard drive, and so on. This one should fit either a standard ATX or mATX motherboard when its complete. I already have an old PC case chassis ready to install, new power supply, and a garage full of spare parts. Let the Dremel festival begin!
