So some have asked me why missions and why Haiti - so, let me explain a little. First, Why Missions?...Because we are commanded to go. Mark 16:15-16 says: He said to them Go into all the world and preach the good news (gospel) to all creation. And in Matthew 28:18-20, Then Jesus came to them and said, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. So, first we are commanded to GO. That does not mean that we ignore those in need around us, that is why we are active with Broken Pieces that feed the homeless in Atlanta, and we support the Family Life Restoration Center here in Mableton. But it doesnt change the fact that we are told to GO, so go we shall. Not only do we do what God has commanded by going, but it does open our eyes to needs around the world (local and foreign). It is very different to say you understand, and to actually go and see the reality so you can truly understand. God will also use your willingness to go as an opportunity to teach you to rely more on Him. So why Haiti, and specifically Arise Haiti? Last year it was a mission trip of opportunity. Our church here in GA, Mableton Assembly of God was forming a team to go to and physically support our missionaries that we support in Haiti. As a church we support over 30 missionaries around the world (including here in the US). This was an opportunity for me to put into action, what I had only been putting my money towards. I had been on a mission trip to Mexico 25+ years ago, but had not responded to the call to Go since (other than local outreaches). Once there, I saw the work our missionaries, James and Rachel, are doing. Medical care for the Haitian people, supplying food (as they have the ability), reaching children with the Kids Ministry (around 400 per week), going into the communities and taking supplies to remote areas that dont normally see support. Bottom line, I fell in love with the Haitian people, and the Arise Haiti team. This year I am excited that Lisa is going to go too. She is very nervous as she has never been on the mission field, and the unknown has her a bit fearful....but as she said last year, I am sick of letting fear keep me from doing what God wants me to do. So with the fear of the unknown, she goes with her known Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. After all, With Him, she can do all things, because He gives her strength. (Paraphrase of Phillipian 4:13). I know that God is going to use us both and bless our obedience of going. So there you have it, some of my explanation of why?. Feel free to reach out if you would like to know more. Again, if you would be willing to support us, please send your financial support to us directly, or you can use the PayPal link included. And as always, we appreciate your prayers as well.
