So, some of you may remember that two weeks ago, it was reported that Sgt Mom was trying to rise up. Her grave looked like she had dug her way out ( or danced her way out). Well, you will all be happy to know that she is now once again tucked in nice and tight. It looks like they redid the whole upper part of the grave. Because the grass that had been growing is gone. And new soil has been put down and pounded in tightly. Hmmmm, lets see if Mom tries to get out again. Anyone think she will? Ha ha. Its kind of sad when you think about it. Shes tucked in so tightly now the visual in my head of her dancing on her grave when we werent looking is gone. I was enjoying visualizing that. Ha ha. Anyway, I found a lovely Christmas wreath on her stone yesterday. It turns out Brother Billy put it there. I added a pine cone with a mini stocking attached. Mom loved pine cones. And a new shiny penny was there so that means a Marine visited. After visiting her grave, I stopped by the VA hospital near by. I grew up next door to it and was there all the time as a kid. Mom even worked there when I was in high school. I had not been in there since my early 20s. I thought Id bring in some of my homemade Christmas candy to the vets. I met an Army Ranger Vietnam vet who is very sick with cancer--Agent Orange, and I met a female Navy vet. It was so wonderful to spend time with them and talk with them. I must visit the vets there every time I go to Moms grave. The ranger told me that when people ask him what they can do for vets, he always says, Visit them in the hospital. So many vets are dying alone. That should not happen. Just visit them. Aside from the cancer, he took three bullets in Vietnam. It was a miracle he survived. He was such a great man to talk with. It was an honor to meet him
