So the Denver Bronco team returns home where they will back up and regroup for another season. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, NASCAR race fans are gearing up for the Daytona 500 later this month. I never was a Denver Bronco fan, so there is no football paraphernalia to put away, but I will have to drag out all my Jeff Gorden, #24, stuff to decorate walls and shelves...... thanks to my nephew Seb. I use to be a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan.... and still am to some degree.... tho when I watch them play now I usually fall asleep in the recliner before half time. But there was a time when I would toss my son, Matthew the Younger, and my nephew Seb in the back of the pick-up and head to Irving, Texas to watch the Cowboys play the Steelers. I use to attend the NASCAR races in Darlington, So. Carolina when Petty, Yarborough, Baker, and the Allison brothers were hot. I was a die-hard Cale Yarborough fan. I was in law enforcement at the time in So. Carolina, and was a Boy Scout troop leader for under privileged boys. Our sponsor was the Salvation Army. I would borrow the Salvation Army van, load my scouts up and haul them to the Darlington Raceway for a thrill of their lifetime.... not to mention mine. But today I sit in my recliner, most generally with needlework in hand, to watch college and pro football, NASCAR races, and a few other winter sports. And today I have to go on-line to find out who won..... for I have fallen asleep before the events are half over. What an adrenalin rush I use to get at these events..... especially when I would watch my ol Alma Mater, Oklahoma University, play football. Now my adrenalin rush is directly proportional to the distance to the nearest bathroom and the thought rushing through my head of will I make it or not. Such is life in the slow lane......
