So the X-Ray revealed a non displaced fracture of my Fibula on the outside of my ankle (Lateral Malleolus). The bummer news is I will not be able to race this weekend at the World Cup in WIndham, NY. :-( The good news is that it is stable (I dont need surgery or crutches) and I can get back on the bike with a protective boot which will allow me to ride and train up to pain tolerance… Doc says it will heal completely in 6 weeks…maybe less, and with the boot, I will be able to race even sooner… At this point I am grateful it was not worse and that the recovery time is quick! I am motivated to do all I can to focus on recovery and get ready for World Championships in Norway (Sept 6). Michael Broderick and I have decided to continue with our plan to go over to Europe (next week) where we can ride quiet mountain passes and take the time to recover and get strong again for some exciting late season races! Really sorry to be missing you all at WIndham - but we need to go home now and take these days to recenter and prepare. Thank you all for the well wishes! And to Lea Davison for referring me to your awesome Doc here in Vermont! When the door closes, there is always a window open somewhere else… Ride on! #focusonthepositive
