Today I was awarded the 2014 Honor Mother of the Year by the American Mothers, Inc. Texas Association. While I love certificates, I love more the opportunity to give recognition to the people who have helped me become worthy of the honor. I was lucky enough to grow up a daddy’s girl with two mothers - my maternal mother Diane and my ‘other mother’ Wendy who married my father when I was just a baby and raised me until her early death in 2005. They each had important lessons for me and truly gave me a well rounded view of motherhood. Despite not graduating from high school, my Mom Diane Mancuso Pelczynski started her own business and worked tirelessly everyday to grow it to a successful venture. My other Mother Wendy was every child’s mother and not only showed my sister and I unconditional love but also took in and cared for any child in her presence. I have tried to honor them both by not only working towards my own goals and aspirations but also always making sure to never let a day go by without showing my daughter that she loved. I think the best thing a mother can do for their child is to choose a good father for them and I am proud to have done that for Dottie. My love for my daughter was born through the love for my husband Bonner Armbruster and when he and I embrace, she always comes running to be a part of it. He shares my passion for raising our daughter in a home of love, respect and manners. I can only hope that I can work to help the many mothers out there in the trenches of motherhood everyday, especially those that arent as fortunate as I. A big thank you also to Mary Compton for the nomination.
