Some Americans will never stop amazing us with the bold manner they expose the extent of their unpardonable ignorance about some basic human facts. It is even more worrying when we now claim we live in a digital age, where almost all knowable information is out there, almost free, or at least, at a little cost, for whoever makes just the most minimum effort to appropriate it. Come to think of it, I could not believe myself when I heard on CBC today, a Canadian radio station, during the evening news that a U.S woman who just returned back to the U.S from Zambia, strongly decided not to go to work, simply because according to her: she was coming back from Africa where Ebola is a pandemic. I could not help pausing from listening to the news just to post here such laughable display of how little, a good number of people know about what we mostly presume are taken for granted matters. Perhaps in the mind of that U.S woman, there is no difference between three countries in West Africa and Africa. I then wonder the amount of repeated information that we need in order to get such a person and people in her category to learn further facts about people other than hers, when even the most basic one such as this one eludes her.
