Some historical food for thought. The last time the Republicans held as large a majority as they do now in the House, and had control of the Senate was 1928. The political platform of the Republicans in the 1920s was: 1. Pro big business 2. Anti organized labor 3. Anti Immigrant 4. Anti Catholic (substitute anti Muslim in 2012) Sound familiar? This is not mudslinging, these are simply historical facts. I encourage anyone who does not believe this to PLEASE look it up. In addition, in the 1920s, membership in the Ku Klux Klan reached its historical apex and nearly 5 MILLION members across the United States. The Republicans, under the above mentioned political platform, were running our government on October 29, 1929; Black Tuesday. If you dont know what Black Tuesday was, then again, I encourage people to look these facts up. They are not opinions, they are simply historical facts that are worth reviewing. Im not saying in any way that history will absolutely repeat itself, but it doesnt hurt to understand that weve been here before, and what the outcome was. Im not Rush Limbaugh. I dont hate the members of any political party. I hope that this Congress succeeds. Im not optimistic that it will, but Im trying to remain positive. I dont care which party is in power if they are actively moving the country forward in a way that makes the playing field level for all Americans. Again, just some food for thought.
