Some of the incidents Hamilton Police responded to over the past 24 hours: Pedestrian Struck On June 23rd, 2014 at approximately 10:00 a.m., a woman was crossing the road from King William Street at Wellington Street when she was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle had just turned from Wellington Street eastbound onto King William Street when the pedestrian was struck. The woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The male driver was charged with Careless Driving. Pedestrian Struck/Fail to Remain On June 23rd, 2014 at approximately 10:30 p.m., a cyclist was riding northbound on John Street in the area of Charlton Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle. A dark coloured vehicle also traveling northbound on John Street turned to go eastbound on Charlton Ave when the cyclist was struck. The impact caused the cyclist to land on the hood of the car continuing onto the roadway. The driver of the vehicle stopped for a time to speak with the cyclist but did not remain at the scene. The 25-year-old cyclist was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The vehicle is described as a dark coloured, 4 door fitted with a spoiler. The driver is described as a white male, 20-25 yrs old, wearing a black adidas jacket with white stripes on the sleeves. The Hamilton Police continue to investigate. Suspicious Circumstances/Trespass On June 23rd, 2014 at approximately 4:35 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to Ancaster High School after receiving reports of suspicious youth on the roof. A staff member observed a long object protruding from a backpack and thought it to be a weapon. The school was placed in hold and secure for a time as officers responded to investigate further. Once on scene officers quickly determined the area to be clear and the youth no longer on the premise. Officers located a flag associated to the World Cup on the roof area of the school. The matter has been dealt with and is not believed to be criminal.
