Some people are born lucky while others have to create their own luck. I was never born in a golden family. As a kid, I didnt know what it felt like to be driven to school. I used to walk most of the time and if I got lucky, I jumped on a bus and saved the lives of many ants. We were not lucrative enough to afford MNET those days and 24/7 we watched ZNBC like any other average family. As a kid, I was hardly taken for shopping. When God blessed, my mom would bring home a t-shirt and a pair of shoe-(salaula style). I never had the luxury of sumptuous meals at school, it was ordinary meals like every other Jim and Jack. Sometimes Id get left out on school trips not because I didnt want to go, but because the currency spinned the other way around. Over the years Ive grown to love and appreciate my parents because they sacrificed more than can ever be imagined. Instead of buying himself a 3 piece suit, my father paid for my extra tuitions. Instead of buying that shoe she had always wanted, my mother diverted the money to my food and nutrition. Instead of going on a drinking spree, my father chose mealie-meal. He could have bought a car if he wanted, but my father invested in a home. I love my parents more than anyone or anything under the sun and so should you. I may not be the ultimate success story now, but looking back at all Ive been through, am bubbling with pride. Lets build a society that shows respect for anyone who is a parent even though they may not be your parent. My parents may not be the best in the world but they are Gods gift to me and I adore their being! Our biggest problem is that we are ungrateful and we forget so easily. Sad as it maybe, some people are ashamed of their parents. Some people get married without parents at the wedding not because they are dead but because they feel embarrassed to bring a parent whose old, frail and lame. Shame! Shame! Shame! That suit you put on! That benz you drive! That job you have! That degree in your drawer! You have all these things because your mother was strong enough to push and endured the pain just so you could see life. Remember, others never saw life, the were aborted.
