Some people have seen the studies that say high-carb, low-fat - TopicsExpress

Some people have seen the studies that say high-carb, low-fat diets are not healthy, and lead to obesity, but one thing that was not discussed was their definitions of low-fat, and high-carb. Many journalists, reporters, and magazine editors do not know how to interpret experimental designs/research, its information, research weaknesses, confounding variables, etc., so they read the conclusions of the scholarly, peer-reviewed journals, and interpret the information a certain way and incorporate them into their writings/videos. The research that was conducted on high-carb, low-fat diets actually used 30% of kilocalories, from fat (or more, in some cases), while combining 40% of the kilocalories from carbohydrate, with 30% of the kilocalories coming from protein. In addition, fats were often eaten with carbs, simultaneously (which can spike up insulin levels, occlude the blood, lead to unwanted, excess fat, and lethargy, when habitually combined). None of those particular studies has experimented with the 80/10/10 ratio (raw or cooked). Not that experimental designs and scholarly, peer-reviewed journals are free of errors, bias (unintentional and intentional), or confounding variables, but they have more credibility, when variables can be controlled and observed. So, if you are new to this lifestyle, before you lose hope, understand that many of things you read/hear, in media sources, may not be telling you the holistic aspect of the research designs. Give it a try. Wean yourself into it, and away from the other products, if Cold Turkey, is too much to handle.
