Some people think I go to Bangalore for work Others think I go there for a holiday The truth is a bit more complex I studied in class VII-X in Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, Jalahalli, Bangalore My dad was posted there twice Yes, I like the city I love coffee and south Indian food at Adigas I love sitting at Koshys I dig into mounds of ice cream at Corner House Tuck into applie pie at the Only Place I absolutely go mad browsing books in Blossoms I love standing at the top of MG Road And yes, there is the work part too So many tech companies And there are friends as well Raju PP, Anand Baskaran, Manjunath Padiki, Raja Swaminathan and lots more But you know something? I go to Bangalore because it is the closest thing I had to home My father seldom stayed in a place for more than two years He stayed five in Bangalore It is the only place where I have studied in five classes Albeit in four different schools When you are in a defence family You do not have childhood friends Hey, there was no Facebook or e-mail at that time So we often dont get to know where others are We just have places I have Bangalore I go there for the books, the work, the food, the friends But most of all I go there To hear the ball hit the wall as Ajay Swamy practiced a backhand To hear Gurtej Singh Sran laughing as he explained physics To see Binu Samuel sitting next to me To see Rajesh Nambiar try yet another slog on the pitch To see Babu Rao dribble past five people and score a goal To see the gap in the pavement where I tripped and fell To remember the only pet I ever had I may never live there (hope springs eternal though) But a part of me is in the city And that it will have to bear...
