Some things I just never reveal to anyone. Some, because theyre too precious and sharing them might make them less so; some because theyre burdensome and sharing them wouldnt lighten the load. Then there are those things that are personal or embarrassing or simply history. However, most things are not revealed because at some point one just realizes that personal reality makes everything contextual and without context, without the thousand details and descriptions, underlying concepts and paradigms -understanding is not possible. There are people who believe they can understand another persons life and problems or that the solution to something as complex as how one becomes a homeless person is as simple as them just getting a job. They ignore all the factors that went into the making of a personal reality such as the one a homeless person might have and reduce it to solution for people who have not walked the road or taken the journey. We cannot truly understand the life of another. If we have developed sympathy and empathy, we may glimpse their road, yet, still miss the blisters and fatigue that weigh them down. We may also miss seeing the precious treasures theyve found along the way. We could exchange homeless for many other possibilities and the general concept remains the same. We could say that only God can judge others but that reduces our ability to be responsible for developing the compassion in ourselves that is needed to accept others as they are and the deep understanding that we do not truly know anyone or their reality. No one. So the next time you even think you might know how someone might conduct their life better, or think you know a solution to their problems -check yourself. You dont. What you know is how you might conduct yourself, if you, from your lifes reality and point of perspective, had their life and problems -but then youd be them and be exactly where they are at this moment in their life. There are things never revealed because the perceptual understanding needed to see them isnt within you and not because theyre secret, sinister, scandalous, difficult or anything else.
