Someone at my husbands work asked how come I cant take the hospital van to Bismarck for my medical appointment... while it really isnt any of their business my life is pretty much an open book for all to see, because it has to be because of the work I do for the people.. so this is these are the reasons.... the medication I take when I go is very very strong, it is a chemo drug, and yes I DO get the side effects of it.. I call it my Princess Fiona stage because I literally turn green.. because it is so strong and the side effects can so strong there have been times I have ended up in the hospital afterwards.. the last time I was in the hospital for four days.. the hospital van does NOT repeat does NOT have an EMT or other medical personal with them... it is just the driver and other patients. They cannot handle a medical emergency.. and to get to my labs tomorrow morning we have to be on the road by 3 am.... yes 3 am.. because I DO not have money for a room.. the infusion instructions the medicine instructions say I need to be near the hospital for three days after the infusion.. we cannot afford that, so we drive back and hope for the best with the IHS ER... it is all we can do.. however without this medicine I would be getting in worse health over the next few months as everything, including my diabetes, heart, high blood pressure, lungs, heart, intestines, everything is connected to my rheumatoid arthritis... it is a insidious disease, and it is not a one one can plan for all the time... so person at husbands work.. I hope this has been some sort of education into chronic illness.. there are times when it gets me, when it grabs ahold of me and it is all I can do to keep from going under.. but I have fought hard over the years and I refuse to let it define me... I refuse to let it stop me... I will get better with my medicine and I will come back as strong as ever.. because that is what I do....
