Someone once asked Dr. Karl Menninger what to do if they felt a nervous breakdown coming on. The famous psychiatrist offered this prescription: Lock up your house, go across the railroad tracks, find someone in need, and do something for him. Jesus says: Whoever will lose his life for my sake will find it (v. 25). When God called Moses and when God called us it is more than just to self-service. We are invited to throw our whole lives into the commission that we are called to carry out. When God called Moses and when God calls us it is more than just to live quiet lives of desperation. We are called instead to daily seek justice, love kindness and to walk in a humble relationship with God. When God called Moses and when God called us it is more than just the hour a week that matters. We are called to leave this sanctuary and enter the mission field that is waiting for us, at every turn, as we traverse the week ahead. This is authentic discipleship and authentic discipleship is an ongoing process. I trust that you are working hard on this every day. I trust that someday in the past, someday in the future and/or someday in the present that you have heard or will hear God’s call and you will answer that call and know that God is with you as you faithfully venture on the journey of Spirit-Led Living. If you have more questions about your faith journey or your involvement in this faith community, please contact Jenny Elmore (our Church Council President) or Jim Harper III (Pastor).
