Something I was just thinking about - Reghan Smith Reghan. . . 2 years ago Her teacher suggested a talk with the counselor because she was worried about Reghan being so quiet and her inability to stay focused. The guidance counselor called me. We have a problem, Reghan claims to be hearing things that arent there. We were advised to seek treatment. I made an appointment to see a child psychiatrist at Adena Counseling Center. Their answer - Lets put her on meds. Needless to say, that wasnt going to happen. Further investigation needed!. Went to her pediatrician and asked for a referral to see a Hearing Specialist about her problem. Results from her hearing test and evaluation were astounding ! Reghan was hearing at an alarming frequency. Breakdown: Range of human hearing is 20 Hz to 20 kHz Range of Reghans hearing is 20 Hz to 40 kHz A dog can hear ranges up to 60 kHz Her high pitch level is insane. We were told that she could hear environmental sounds and high pitches that normal human ears could not. Animalistic like. This is why she had trouble concentrating at school and spoke so softly- sound sensitivities. So glad I didnt listen to the psychiatrist and load her up on meds. She wasnt crazy, she is gifted. Very special and unique. The immediate answer should NEVER be medication. She may have a future in paranormal investigations. No special equipment needed :) Amazing .
