Something I was reminded of this AM early, early....something I wrote for my sons. .... ....The singular oddity that is Writer’s Camp is that Caaamp is something unique to me and my experience—something born of love, dreams and great friendship. So maybe I never do become a FAMOUS writer. Could that outcome provide me any more pure joy and good fortune than the pursuit has already given me? That is why I’ve put this to paper for you boys. So that you too may realize—no matter what it is you choose to do, no matter what it is you think you “should” be when you grow up—that there is something unique about you and about your personal journey. It’s never about the ends at all, but rather, the means—what they mean to you in your heart—and all you will encounter because of them. It never goes the way you plan it. And that makes all the difference. Above all, none of it is worth a hill of beans without love, dreams and friendship. Know that simple, difficult truth—and you will understand the wisdom of your father in its entirety. ..... I couldnt possibly know, growing up, that the single most creative thing I would ever do would be to create Sam and Ben. Lots of folks will never top that. Top this. And for that I am grateful.
