Something funny happens on the way to your +1 baby. I mean we, aspiring parents, always start out with a number in our head. Ours fell in the 2-3 range originally. Some families do the one and done, and us persistent ones often look upon them with envy. More hands on deck, more focused attention. It may have been nice to go that route we often think. For us, we felt good, and said hey, lets not cut ourselves short here, good things come in pairs. And then, there we sit with a group of four. Perfect for dining out, perfect for hotel stays, perfect for splitting up the parenting duties of attention and guidance. And yes, we thought for a brief moment that 2 would be the conclusion of this story. We never made it final, never gave away all the baby stuff, mommas dont handle that too well anyways. Then last fall, we were given our +1. And, even after being down this road twice before, nothing prepares you for the sudden realization in that hospital room, once the congratulations start and babies first tears flow, that this is another great adventure handed to us by some luck and great modern medicine and science. Owen was not quite into the idea of his first sister when she was born but boy did that little girl grow on him. Everything is one for him and one for B. And now, as I review the pictures taken today of baby 3, especially the ones of them walking up with great anticipation to meet their +1, tears fill my eyes and I couldnt think of doing anything different. I am so very lucky to have Kristen to lead us through this next chapter. Thank you all for the well wishes, Kristen will be commenting on everything soon... we forgot her ipad here at home and now she is literally all thumbs with only her phone.
