Something happened to me today that I dont remember ever happening before. The kids and I were getting ready to leave McDonalds when a black woman approached me and started by saying, I hope you dont mind me asking, but... I braced myself for questions about how often I washed Rileys hair, what products I used, etc. or possibly if the kids were twins. Instead she asked if I was a foster parent. When I said I was a foster parent but now they are adopted, she said, thank you forgiving them a future and God bless you for what you do. Weve received tons of encouragement and support from friends, family, acquaintances were introduced to through friends, but I dont think I remember a stranger in a public place stopping to say such kind words. It meant a lot to me. On an unrelated note, when leaving the park today I saw an older woman doing something that looked like jazzercise in roller blades. This is also something Ive never seen before. Ha!
