Soooooo....... Who thinks a ROH type program is a good idea? Al Bincarousky has a few ROH dogs he has bred. I think supporting research that actually affects this breed ought to be addressed so a health education committee needs to be formed and a database instituted. For a breed database, not all breed I would give my results out. Right now they are all good but on a need to know basis. Have a dog from me? No? dont need to know. With stuff like CRD2, a list of carriers ought to be posted on the national site. Just because a dog is a carrier does not mean it needs to be tossed out of the gene pool, it helps make informed and intelligent breeding decisions. That is what we all want, right? also Ataxia....... The national club needs to be more proactive in telling folks to test their predominantly AST dogs for this disease. Not many do and sometimes, with research, they can be cleared by parentage. Who has ideas to forward something like these? Also, the welcome packets are a must to bring back. A pin, the decal, and the pamphlet we used to have plus a laminated membership card is a plus. These days you can get a laminator cheaply and like the APHA does, put member since 2014. If it lapses they dont give a new number they just activate the same card. The little things make people feel appreciated and valued. So how would you do some of this? and who thinks it is a good idea?
