Sorry - this is a long post! Held my first tea party in the shed yesterday and got to thinking...I really want to name this lovely space. I had so many brilliant suggestions; The Tardis, Reincarnation, Rivendell, The Pamper Suite, The Garden Room, Narnia, Hogwarts, The Sancuary, Suzies Place, Suzies Love Shack, Serenity, Sharmel Shed, The Peace Pod, Om Shanti, The Chillout Chamber. Heaven, Restoration Room, Restore and Recuperate, The Retreat, G-Spot, Natures Retreat, Hippy House, Rib of Man, Shed-rila, Shhhh-ed, Daisys Den. I looked around the shed and my eyes fixed on one of my pictures.. a piece of art I bought when I went on retreat with the Brahma Kumaris and I knew that the name of my Shed had to be Om Shanti Shanti Shanti. (Om Shanti for short!) Om represents everything in the universe, past, present, and future. It even represents everything that is outside of those three times. It therefore represents both the mundane world of time in which the mind normally functions, and the world as perceived by the mind that is awakened and that experiences the world timelessly. It represents both enlightenment and non-enlightenment. Shanti simply means peace. It’s a beautiful meaning and also a very beautiful sound. The shanti is repeated three times, as are many chants in Buddhism. In Buddhism as well as in Hinduism the threefold Shanti is generally interpreted as meaning the Threefold Peace in body, speech, and mind (i.e. peace in the entirety of one’s being). wildmind.org/mantras/figures/shanti
