Sorry about missing yesterdays Nov. 7 Thanksgivings - too much to do/too little time. So, today I offer Thanksgivings for November 7/8 - I am thankful for the relationship opportunities and spiritual encouragement from the preachers who have been a part of my faith journey. I really appreciate these guys and their commitment to study, preach, teach and live Gods word in the noble effort to help folks come to know, love and follow Jesus. I have been blessed to be friends and sometimes ministry partners with some of these men. My first remembrance of preachers begins with Elbert Henry long ago. He and Hope and their kids (Hey Mark, Phil and Lisa!) were and are beloved by many at Central. Elbert had a servants heart and had a big impact on the spiritual growth of my parents. Then I remember Wild Bill Threet. He and Patsy and their kids moved right down the street from us and Gene and I have been best friends ever since. Bill was/is enthusiasm and energy personified! He preached, was education minister, youth minister and seniors minister all-in-one. He was the first to instill in me a desire to pursue ministry as a vocation. (And he also introduced me to motorcycles to my Moms horror!) I still love and respect Bill for his heart of service! Then there was Jerrie Barber. I wasnt as close to Jerrie since he was at Central during my college days, but I appreciate him greatly for the impact he had on Central and on my Dad as an elder. They were a great ministry pair! Roger Coffman and his family moved right down the street, also, and we became great friends. Roger is and was a thinker and not afraid to challenge folks spiritually and he and I connected immediately. Loved his sermons and also the times we spent together at the beach! He was encouraging to me as I came on staff at Central part time and I cherished our time together as ministry partners. Then Ronnie Missildine - oh what a friend! Ronnie and I shared lots of stuff together and still have the relationship where we can bear one anothers burdens and share Mexican meals together! And now Bryan Collins. What a blessing to Central! I am enjoying the deepening of our relationship and I highly respect Bryans passion to communicate Gods word and be a real people person among the flock at Central. Wow - lots of blessings!
