Spark Vark. Also colloquially called Fat tail, the Raven has served the USAF to scramble the frequency and protect an offensive force. 42 aircraft were in service between 1983 and 1998, a cell of F - 111 Aardvark being adapted with an ALQ-99E installed top countermeasure pod of drift. This solution was preferred to the integration of the Prowler in the ranks of the USAF... Hey Yes, a marine aircraft! The irony of history is that the Raven was withdrawn in 1998 when the Prowler (received from 1971 by the Navy) flies again (for a few more weeks)... with crews comprised of USAF Airmen... There is no mention yet of Growler with mixed crews USN/USAF!
