Speedway plans to demolish its existing store at 752 Trenton Ave. and Ralphie’s Sports Eatery next door, at 1523 Broad Ave., to build a bigger, 4,000 square foot store. Ralphie’s will be moving to another Findlay location. Plans for Speedway to build the new station facing Broad Avenue, with eight double-sided fuel dispensers, were approved this morning by Findlay City Planning Commission. Approval is contingent upon the City Zoning Appeals board waiving zoning rules which would require the store, canopy and a dumpster to be farther from property lines and from Broad Avenue. Zoning appeals board approval next Thursday is likely. Timing of demolition of the existing Speedway store and Ralphie’s, and construction of the new store, were unclear this morning. Ralphie’s is looking for another Findlay location, said Rob Armstrong, spokesman for Bennett Enterprises, which owns and operates Ralphie’s Sports Eatery. It has looked at several Findlay sites. “We love Findlay,” Armstrong said. “We want to stay in that market.”
