Spent last week doing a lot of spinning and setting up a warp on our eight-shaft table loom. On Saturday we were up in Jamaica Vermont demonstrating spinning and weaving at their historic home days fest. The scarf we are weaving is a star twill using dark gray and white wool from a local shepherdess in that area. The scarf was auctioned off and by the end of September we will finish it and send it up to the winner. Also, a month ago I restored a great wheel on loan to the historic society so it is usable now. I spent the day spinning on it and throughout the day members of the family who own it came in to see it in use. I gave each of them a spinning lesson on it and they were all delighted beyond words to actually use the wheel which has been in their family for over two hundred years. They all had stories about having possession of the wheel at some point in their lives, or it being stored in the grandfathers barn and not being able to touch it and a number of memories. They all have photos now of each other spinning on the family spinning wheel. Great day!
