Spent the afternoon/evening up A&E getting a quick x-ray - TopicsExpress

Spent the afternoon/evening up A&E getting a quick x-ray (suggested by my gp) after my accident. Quick x-ray turned into waiting for CT scan due to them discovering I have broken my spine (their initial dont scare the patient diagnosis :o) ). Turns out, for those of you with medical knowledge, I have an anterior wedge (compression) fracture of the T12 vertebral body with (luckily) no retropulsed fragments :o . A stable fracture (again luckily), so am home awaiting a call from the spinal injuries clinic, to await further instructions :( On the upside the nurses and doctors were great and had to put up with my reaction to being bedbound and lie flat and dont move for 6 hours : me - so i can go home now. nurse - yes. me - cool, i should still be able to get to my martial arts class then. nurse - you cant do that (slight surprise in her voice). me - (straight face) oh, can i go out dancing ? nurse - (more shock) no, you caant do anything active me - will I be able to play the piano ? (can you see where im heading) nurse - oh yes, that might be ok (smiling, happy that she helped) me - thats strange, i couldnt play before i came in (boom, boom, the oldies are the best) nurse - (smiling) youre having me on (lol ed) :) Anyway, Im ok and just lieing at home bored and drugged up on muscle relaxants, anti imflamatories and pain killers, trying to keep still and bored (yes twice), hence the long status update :) gnight folks.
