Spent the day in Chartres. Awe-inspiring cathedral, charming town (lots of oddly Bavarian-looking, fairytale-ish, split-timbered buildings, with steep winding lanes and picturesque bridges over the tiny river). Best of all, I got to spend the day making jokes about Chartres-ing, much to Guss weary dismay. (Ex: I can hardly wait to tell all my friends that I Chartres-ed for the first time ever!!!) Please note Guss finger in several frames. The last photo is from a series of 40 carved panels in the cathedral on the life of Mary. Its called The circumcision of the Christ Surprisingly, the guide books skip over this one...
