Sports Update Transfer Talk Arturo Vidals transfer from Juventus to Manchester United has hit a snag because of doubts about the Chileans fitness, according to his national team coach. Jorge Sampaoli, quoted in El Mercurio, says that United boss Louis van Gaal is wary of spending £47m because of the midfielders problematic knee injury. Vidal has been a long-term target for the Premier League side, with reports suggesting a move has been close all summer. The Argentinean coach also believes Vidal was just 30 or 40 per cent of the player he was for Juve last season at the World Cup, and could be paying for pushing himself too hard. Liverpool have agreed a deal with Bayern Munich for Pepe Reina with the goalkeeper set for a medical on Wednesday as he finally heads for a permanent exit. The Spaniard spent last season out on loan at Napoli after being frozen out by Brendan Rodgers, with seemingly no way back into the managers plans. Reina did fly out to America with the Reds last week and trained with the squad but didnt even make the bench against Manchester United in the International Champions Cup on Monday night. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge expanded on the clubs official website, saying: The player will come to Munich in the next few days for a medical exam and to sign his contract. Pepe Reina was eager to come to Bayern Munich. Barcelona are poised to offer £10m for Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen. The Belgium international is also wanted by Manchester United and Arsenal would prefer to sell abroad but will take the highest bid with the 28-year-old valued at £12m. United are to hold a recruitment meeting later this week. Real Madrid could be willing to listen to offers for Xabi Alonso amid concerns the midfielders lost too much weight, say reports in Spain. According to El Confidencial, Real are concerned by the Spain stars lack of fitness and apparent weight loss during pre-season. Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly worried by Alonso showing little strength during training. Southampton are poised to complete a £7million deal for keeper Fraser Forster if Celtic crash out of the Champions League on Wednesday night. The Scottish champions are 4-1 down from the first leg of their third round Champions League qualifying clash with Legia Warsaw. And with £15million on the line in the return at Murrayfield, coach Ronny Deila admits the consequences of failure could be player sales - with Forster first out the door and Virgil van Dijk, Adam Matthews and Kris Commons also being monitored by Premier League clubs.
