Staff Car is a need and a symbol of status. Two years back a monetization policy was introduced for grade 20 to 22 officers. Through policy they could purchase staff cars for low prices along with a big sum on monthly basis for maintenance and driver expense. These officers would use that policy car for official purposes also. The reasons were, to stop the misuse of staff cars and to minimize the expenditure. But most beneficiaries are misusing their powers. They kept policy staff car for their family and got another for official work and also the maintenance sum. Now around 400 new grade 20 federal officers have no staff car for official use. The failure of that policy in my investigative column in Daily Nawa i Waqt Islamabad on 19 July.
