Philani operates in the informal settlements of Khayelitsha, Crossroads, Brown’s Farm, Mfuleni, Nyanga, KTC and Delft on the outskirts of Cape Town. Philani Maternal Child Health and Nutrition Project seeks to appoint a Staff Nurse for the Mentor Mother programme, based in Cape Town. Responsibilities: Supervise and support Mentor Mothers (outreach workers) in a designated area; Conduct home visits in Khayelitsha, Delft, Mfuleni, Crossroads, Philippi, etc; Organise and conduct continuous training for Mentor Mothers; Provide medical care and advise to identified clients; Network with social workers, government clinics and agencies in the area; Organise and attend community meetings; Write reports; Take stock and order of equipment and supplies. Requirements: Relevant nursing qualification; One to two years staff nursing experience; Administrative skills; Verbal and written communication skills; Experience in community health; Experience in Paediatrics; 1st language ability in isiXhosa is an advantage; Positive, open and flexible attitude.
