Start Initiative for Social Justice and Human Rights, in cooperation with the Nile Media Center in Sharqiya celebrated the Initiatives achievements during the past year in helping released convicts. Sharqiya Governor also established a fund for those who end up imprisoned when they buy goods and are unable to pay their price under the auspices of the Assistant to the Interior Minister (Sharqiya Seucrity Director) General Sameh el-Kilany and ambassador Salah Abdel-Sadek, Chairman of the State Information Services. Start provided a detailed description of its achievements and the cases that benefited from its services. A video of the Start activities during the past year was also shown. Attendees praised the tangible efforts of Start General Director Nermine al-Bahtyty and her work team, particularly that she works institutionally and in an organized way through a number of bases, including the legal unit which includes a team of human rights defenders and lawyers to defend the cases, in addition to the psychological unit which contributes to the psychological rehabilitation of those released in order to integrate them again into society. Stsrt also has a training unit. The Initiative succeeded in implementing and following up more than 24 projects for released convicts. Ebdaa established a safe house for released women and organizing psychological courses to help them reintegrate into society. The celebration concluded with offering the Ebdaa shield to the Sharqiya Governor, Security Director and the State Information Services Chairman. A number of the cases of those unable to complete payments for goods they bought was also honored after Ebdaa helped them pay their debts and thus they were released from prison
