State govt. to develop logistics hub at Bawal The Haryana Government on Wednesday announced its decision to develop a 1,200 acre Integrated Multi-Modal Logistic Hub (IMLH) as part of the prestigious Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project. It will be developed over an area of 1200 acres adjoining the Delhi-Mumbai Freight Corridor near IMT Bawal. The Government has also decided to expand the Industrial Model Township at Bawal over an area of 2400 acres. The scheme was part of a larger plan whereby Manesar Bawal Investment Region will be promoted to generate USD 42 billion worth of industrial output by 2040, thereby contributing 25% of State GDP. The project is also likely to generate 1.6 million jobs by then, said Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. The decision was taken during a meeting of the Haryana Infrastructure Development Board (HIDB). It also provided INR 900 crore equity for funding the acquisition of 1200 acres land for IMLH, which would be developed in public private partnership mode in collaboration with Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC) and is likely to become operational in 2 to 3 years. The IMLH project envisages development of an EXIM container yard, domestic container yard, warehousing, auto zone and commercial zone. As per the initial project feasibility the EXIM traffic is likely to constitute 75% of the total container traffic estimated at 1.39 tonne equivalent units (TEU) by the year 2030. The DMIC project in Haryana would cover 66% area of the State across 14 districts. Under it, four investment regions namely Manesar Bawal Investment Region, Faridabad Palwal Industrial Area, Kundli Sonepat Investment Region and Rewari-Hisar Industrial Area would be developed. Manesar Bawal Investment Region is being developed in the first phase.
