DURHAM – The University of New Hampshire Center for Family Business kicks off its fall series of family business events with “Proven Methods to Increase Revenue, Grow Market Share, and Conquer Social Media,” Wednesday, Sept. 25. The program begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Derryfield Country Club in Manchester. Registration and coffee begins at 8 a.m. Lunch and networking will follow at noon. This program will cover ideas for new marketing campaigns, back office best practices, segmenting, and targeted lead capture techniques. The program will be presented by Catherine Blake, adjunct professor at the UNH Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics and founder of Sales Protocol International. MANCHESTER — The fifth annual New Hampshire Business Review Health Care Forum, presented by MVP Health Care, will take place on Tuesday, October 1, from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Grappone Conference Center in Concord. The forum begins with a networking breakfast followed by keynote speaker Stan Hupfeld who will discuss the Affordable Care Act, and its impact on employers both nationally and locally. He will provide insight on how our current health care system operates, the challenges of health care reform, the specifics of the ACA, and the pros and cons of private plans versus the government-based plan. After the keynote, the event will feature a discussion of the legal issues surrounding the ACA and its impact on New Hampshire’s business community, along with New Hampshire-specific answers to questions about how the new health insurance exchange marketplace will work and how the ACA affects businesses. CONCORD — The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the New Hampshire Bureau of Securities Regulation will host a special fraud prevention investor education program at the Manchester Library (405 Pine Street) on October 3 from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM. The program is entitled: “Don’t Be the Next Victim: Protect against Investment Fraud” and will include both SEC and Bureau personnel reviewing the “Three P’s” of investment fraud. Learn the Profile of the typical victim, common persuasion tactics that fraudsters deploy, and techniques to help prevent fraud. The presentation will include detailed information on current frauds being perpetrated on New Hampshire citizens, methods for detecting and preventing fraud, and extensive free investor education materials. ROCHESTER — The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its 25th Annual Operation Thank You, sponsored by Federal Savings Bank. Operation Thank You is the Chamber’s membership appreciation day where all Chamber members are thanked for their support. This year, Operation Thank You will be held on Thursday, October 10.
