Steve-O definitely got it spot on in this video. I understand that the use of viral videos and the spread of trends throughout YouTube and celebrities with massive followings is becoming a lot more common and can make a massive difference. It is extremely clever and will definitely spread the cause like wildfire. However, as someone who believes that the true way to show support to a charity or cause is by reading up on what they stand for, the illness itself and donating money, pouring a bucket of icey water over your head is pointless and the fact that there will be people out there who will donate £0 just to bandwagon onto the latest trend is awful. Its extremely clever since challenge videos are taking the Internet by storm these days, however there should be a serious reality check when it comes to supporting charities and doing it for the right reasons. As always, a trend that starts off with everyone finding it hilarious suddenly turning sour within a couple of days.
