Steve signing in at 7:40 AM. Rain is pulling away from the area, moving northeastward, mild temperatures just above 50° along the I-40 corridor, low to mid 40s in the mountains. Even though the rains exit the area in another couple hours, dont expect much improvement in sky conditions. We should stay mostly overcast today with temperatures about where they are now. Another batch of light rain may develop later today into the evening as temperatures drop to the low 40s by Tuesday morning. Tuesday itself should be mostly cloudy with a little clearing possible late in the day and it will be noticeably cooler with afternoon temperatures in the mid to upper 40s. New Years Eve and New Years Day both look good weather wise with sunny skies but cold temperatures, mid 20s New Years Eve morning, low 40s in the afternoon, probably low 30s in the evening. New Years Day should be slightly warmer but still below normal, highs in the mid to upper 40s. The next system approaches Friday. Right now it looks like a mess but temperatures should be warm enough for rain just about everywhere, a chilly rain beginning perhaps Friday afternoon, continuing overnight into Saturday morning and then off and on rain showers through the rest of the weekend. Temperatures actually warm up though and could reach the upper 50s by Sunday afternoon. Its difficult to say for certain at this point but there could be a lull in precipitation during the Panthers/Cardinals game later Saturday afternoon into the evening, temperatures low 50s. Colder air may hold off until the following (January 10) weekend.
