SUMMARY On March 26, 2013, Nancy Morales and Oscar Omar Figueredo were arrested at the airport in Brownsville, Texas after they refused to answer questions regarding their citizenship made by Border Patrol agents. Nancy and Omar were attempting to board a domestic flight to return to their home in Ithaca, NY when they were questioned by the agents. They both refused to answer the agents’ questions in defense of their civil rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. For having asserted their constitutional rights with this passive act of resistance, Nancy and Omar were arrested by Brownsville police and now the state has filed multiple charges against them both. Nancy and Omar maintain their innocence and ask for the public’s support in their fight against these charges. Omar will appear before Cameron County at Law No. 3 on Wednesday, April 2 for a pre-trial conference.
