Story time: I went to the car wash this morning after dropping Levi at preschool so I could vacuum out the car. After I parked, I went in search of the change machine and all I found was a sign that said it had been stolen on Friday night. Alrighty then. About this time an older gentleman comes up to me to tell me his car is stuck in the automatic car wash. The doors on both sides of the bay were shut. I asked him how he got out. He said the door at the front of the bay was open just enough for him to get out of the car and shimmy through. And then they closed tightly. The whole car wash was stopped. Nothing was working or moving. With his car stuck inside. Yikes! He paid more money to try and get the doors to open. No luck. No emergency numbers posted. No answer when I called the office. He was at a loss. I called the non-emergency police number and they were so not helpful. They said there wasnt anything they could do and to keep trying. Um, thanks? George (my new friend) was missing his Cumadin check appointment at the clinic, which I called for him. After about 45 minutes I suggested he call his wife (of 63 years) to come get him, take him to the clinic, then check back and see if anyone had shown up to man the office. So then we waited another 20 minutes for his wife. We chatted about our lives and our families. I have no idea if the car is still stuck in there or not. I worked Jesus in there a little bit so he knows where to find us if he wants to come to church. I reached to shake his hand goodbye and got a hug instead. He called me his angel a bunch of times and really made my not-so-stellar morning a whole lot brighter.
