Stress!! What is stress? Where did it all start? Even school-going children complain of stress. What is the cause of stress? What is the cause of your stress? Are you attracting stressors to you? Who or what is your stressor? These are amongst others some of the questions on my quest to tracking down the causes and the meaning of this phenomenon easily blamed for almost all human misfortunes and follies. Expectations of other people put stress on us. Teachers want from us to get A grades for all our tests. They do not understand that you are not strong academically. Parents want their children to become lawyers, doctors and engineers. The fact that the child wants to be a journalist, a DJ, musician, etc., are immaterial to the parents. What about the child’s dream and passion? Friends want us to go out and hang with them. If we don’t we are not good friends. People want your possessions or money and if you say NO then you are labelled as somer suinig. Other people put so much stress on us that we do only what they want, loosing ourselves in the process. When you say ‘NO’ then you are a no good, unacceptable, spoil sport, party pooper, a fool, weakling an outcast. We start to believe this untruth about the self, and act exactly as they want us to be: dumb, weak and bad en somer downright ghetto. U are being labelled and defined and boxed. You cannot do anything without their approval. In our quest and need to be accepted and love, we just do what people want and need and loose ourselves in the process. You lost the true you in this need to please. In the process of pleasing others you reject yourself. You forget who you are because the world/people made you. You repress your desires to please others. You denounce your dreams. You abort your goals and purpose in life. Seek approval from your Heavenly Father. Be obedient to Him. Ask for wisdom. You are fine as you are. You are created by the King of this world. You are his heir. Be only answerable to Him.
