Stunning. Thank God Almighty that the child was at school! This just goes to show how much the soil and trees have been compromised by the drought, weakened due to drying out. Prior to the recent rains, when you walked on the soil , it would kind of give way a little. Kind of a bit crunchy. Now, the soil is turning spongy. Theres no support for the trees, so they fall over, even with a little wind. In a way, the severity of this storm is mostly the result of the drought. People in Rhode Island or Nebraska would say this was just a run-of-the-mill rainstorm. Not even really severe, just really a lot of rain.
