SubhanaAllah read the comments below guyz ... questions and answers from shia and muslims...it helps alot to us especially in responce to shias beliefs :) I qouted this one from Bro omars comments: Sister Nadia Khan WRT - it seems like the senior companions only saw two options as well It seems like you base your entire assumption on just one Hadith at the expense of all others? - When analysing any aspect of the deen we look at the Quran & Sunnah and historical evidences comprehensively not just base our verdict on one hadith or what one person said at one time and neglect the rest. Realise my dear sister, the senior companions had been through a lot and seen a lot of bloodshed in their times. More Muslims had been killed fighting among themselves during the great trails of the battle of Jamal & Siffin than all the Muslims killed in expeditions against the Kufaar while the Prophet (saw) was alive. They had seen enough bloodshed and their own Muslim brothers kill each other. The last thing the senior companions would ever want is to advise the beloved grandson of the Prophet (saw) to do anything that would put his life in danger. Therefore even though OPTIONS 3 & 4 were available to them they would never advise as such because there is very limited chance of option 3 happening and option 4 would also mean that Husyans (ra) precious life would still be in danger. Their wisdom dictated to them that the LIFE OF HUSAYN (ra) was WORTH MORE than taking any corrupt Muslim Khalifah off his place. As it is too us today - even if the whole Ummah of over 1.5 billion Muslims has to suffer under a corrupt ruler but the life and blood of the beloved grandson of the Prophet (saw) is protected then By Allah we have no complaints - its worth it! Now since you believe there were only 2 options sister, lets have a look at the options Husayn (ra) HIMSELF saw... After being abandoned by the cowards of Kufaa and being surrounded at Karabala, Husayn (ra) sent terms to Umar ibn Saad. 1. Let me speak to Yazid directly and negotiate with him 2. Let me go back to Makkah 3. Exile me to a far away land and I will worship Allah in solidarity for the rest of my life. ANALYSIS... 1. Let me speak to Yazid directly and negotiate with him - This shows that Husayn (ra) was comfortable speaking to Yazid rather than the shrewd politician ibn Ziyad and negotiate terms with him directly. What those terms would be, Allah knows best - but one thing we can say for sure is that we do not expect Husayn (ra) to give allegiance to Yazid now just because his life is in danger. 2. Let me go back to Makkah - Notice, Husayn (ra) doesnt say I will give you bayah then let me go back to Makkah. He wants to go back to Makkah (a place were he has trustworthy supporters and where his family will be secure) and not give bayah to Yazid! This is OPTIONS 3 & 4 in action! Now that the cover of false support of the 14,000 cowards of Kufaa has been removed, Husayn (ra) starts to think like his elder brother Hassan (ra) and understands the advice of the senior companions and sees clearly the wisdom of OPTION 3 & 4 which he couldnt realise before being overwhelmed by the false letters and support of the traitors of Kufaa. But now its all clear to him and he doesnt want to give bayah to Yazid, but go back to a place where he really has trustworthy supporters and his family will be safe and then hope for OPTION 3 with a possibility of OPTION 4 happening if Yazid came for Husayn (ra) himself. Though, from the perspective of the shrewd politician ibn Ziyad this is no longer an option, he had just bribed and silenced a 14,000 crowd of Kufans against a suspected huge rebellion and had now caught Husayn (ra) red-handed with the 2 bags of letters of support from the people of Kufaa coming to start a rebellion against what he believed to be a so called legitimate Khalifah of the Islamic state. And as Ive already mentioned that history is witness that no rulership has ever been sympathetic to any uprising against the ruler. If ibn Ziyad lets Husayn (ra) go, there is no guarantee (from his sick political mind) that Husayn (ra) wont start another rebellion. 3. Exile me to a far away land and I will worship Allah in solidarity for the rest of my life - This is pretty self explanatory, and very reasonable as from a political stand point Husayn (ra) would no longer be a threat to the Khilafat of Yazid and if ibn Ziyad had even an ounce of mercy in his heart he would have agreed to this reasonable request but his arrogance was too much and he didnt agree to any of the terms and massacred Husayn (ra) and his family members. So you see, after the cover of the false support of the 14,000 cowards of Kufaa had been removed even Husayn (ra) saw the benefit of options 3 & 4, else he wouldnt have wanted to go back without giving allegiance to Yazid. He wanted to back *without* giving allegiance and hope for a negotiation with Yazid which is option 3 or option 4 would have happened and Yazid would be power hungry and come for Husayn (ra) himself, but at least Husayns (ra) family would be safe in Makkah as he had brought them along with him on the trust of the traitors of the people Kufaa. Little baby Ali Asgars (ra) story makes me cry the most after the death of Husayn (ra) - a little thirsty baby killed so brutally, inna lilahi wa inna ilayhi rajioon. If they were in Makkah or Madinah with the real trustworthy people then a little child would not have been killed so mercilessly and this what Husayn (ra) wanted for his family the most at this time, he wanted them to be secure and safe after he realised that the people of Kufaa have betrayed him and his family. Hope this clarifies.. Peace and blessings be upon Rasool Allah (saw) his Family and all the follow him...
