Sugar. The latest bad in nutrition is sugar - magazines, - TopicsExpress

Sugar. The latest bad in nutrition is sugar - magazines, newspapers, books and whole TV shows dedicated to the EVIL that is sugar. The truth? The latest figures show a 1% increase in consumption. What else has happened is a 603 increase in calories over the same period. The National Health & Nutrition Examination Survey also found a 10% increase in sedentary behaviour. Were eating more and sitting more. Its like the 80s fat bashing. Now eating fat is the in thing with low carb and paleo. Researcher recently found that simple sugar in your diet may not lead to weight gain. Subjects consumed the same amount of calories one had extra fructose in their foods. What happened? Neither of the groups gained any weight. They then looked at sugar and how it affects weight gain or maintenance. The result? Simple, overeating makes you gain pounds. More specifically, excess calories no matter what the source causes weight gain. The other big accusations are that sugar is toxic. As Alan Aragon says anything can be toxic, water, table salt etc, in high quantities Diabetes, obesity, heart disease to sugar. This is BS since there are a multitude of factors for each of these diseases. You cant point a single factor to any of these diseases. This isnt a pass to drink coke and eat haribo, rather manage your daily calorie intake by eating mainly minimally processed foods and exercise/activity. And stop letting the media and gurus scare you into avoiding and omitting foods.
