Message: Bro. Aaron Underwood - Luke 22:41. The nevertheless cup. Jesus prayed a biter prayer in the garden. He knew where his life was leading him and had time to prepare for what he was facing. He knew one of his chosen twelve would betray him and wondered ifnthe betrayal was necessary to fulfill his will. So he prayed nevertheless, not my will lord but thine be done. Mary was a wholesome girl from a non affluent family. The inly thing she jad going for her wasnher name and reputation. She was chosen and chose to sacrifice it for the will of God and said be it unto me. We cant expect to enter then house of God without offering a sacrifice. It is our sacrifice of praise that ushers the presence of God into the house. We have to surrender to the will of God. Joseph was just the sheppard of the family and his father bkesed him with a coat of many colors. So hos brothers were jelous of him. He was given dreams that his brothers and parents would some day bow to him. His brothers then betrayed him and sold him into slavery. Joseph no doubt wondered how it was that God gave him great dreams and yet he was betrayed by his own family. He again is betrayed and sent to prison. He eventually was used by God to prophesy to Pharaoh and was placed into the highest place of rule in the kingdom. It was then he realized that he had to go through betrayal to get to the place where God wanted him to be and where he saw himself in his dreams. Job was blessed above all men by God and was perfect in the eyes of God. Everything was going good. Then all of a sudden it was all taken from him when the Lord allowed him to be tested. Throughout the whole ordeal, he trusted the Lord. Even his wife and friends betrayed him. Job stod by the Lord and drank from the nevertheless cup and God blessed hom again but double what he had before. If we could learn to do the same as these and drink from the nevertheless cup, surrendering our will to Gods, and hold on to the promises of God, we would reap blessings beyond what we could imagine in our lives and in our church.
